8-Channel ES9038PRO DACs
Each ES9038PRO DAC chip contains 8 independent D/A converters, connected in parallel for fully differential output. This design ensures precise, clear, and full sound. With a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 132dB and a total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N) of -122dB, the R9 achieves new heights in audio quality.
Next-Gen THX AAA 788+ Headphone Amplifier
The R9 features an 8-channel THX AAA 788+ headphone amplifier, capable of outputting 7300mW per channel at 32Ω. This design enhances transient performance, ensuring continuous and stable high-power output. The comb-shaped heat sinks and optimized circuit layout efficiently dissipate heat, maintaining optimal performance.
HiFi Audio Architecture
The R9 boasts a five-stage audio architecture with carefully crafted IV, LPF, gain, pre-amplification, and current expansion stages. The OPA2211 op-amps, made through the silicon-germanium (SiGe) CMOS manufacturing process, ensure excellent performance. The variable gain and power supply voltage design offer five levels of gain, providing a great listening experience for both IEMs and hard-to-drive headphones.
Carefully-Designed PCB
The R9's internal power supply, digital portions, DAC, and headphone amplifier are all on separate boards with metal shields to fully isolate the DAC and THX headphone amp sections. This design minimizes crosstalk, ensuring accurate, clean, and dynamic audio signals.
Finely-Divided Analog Portion
The analog portion of the audio circuit features a finely-divided multiple-stage power supply, including digital-to-analog conversion, LPF, pre-stage processing, amplification drive, and other power supply stages. Precision LDOs are used for secondary voltage stabilization, ensuring a clean and stable power supply.
Separate Analog and Digital Power Supplies
The R9 has separate power supplies for the digital and analog portions of the audio circuit. This design avoids crosstalk between the digital and analog parts, achieving better isolation and shielding for superior sound quality.
Finely Tuned Power Supply
The R9 features a new 40W low-noise, high-efficiency, long-lasting industrial-grade power supply, supporting an ultra-wide range of input voltages (85~305VAC) and capable of operating under a wide range of temperatures (-40°C~85°C). It is also rated for lasting 500,000 hours. The R9 can be powered by an external DC power supply (15V-3A), allowing for pairing with a high-performance linear power supply. Additionally, when paired with an external AC power supply, the "Ground Lift" functionality can be enabled to reduce crosstalk for purer sound.
Large 6-Inch HD Screen
The R9 features a 6-inch 2160*1080 vertical (portrait) screen combined with the open Android OS for an intuitive experience. Users can freely install and use third-party streaming music and other apps, without worrying about compatibility issues.
Comprehensive Connectivity
The R9's extensive range of inputs and outputs allows it to become the central hub of your desktop HiFi setup. It supports a variety of operating modes, including Android mode, Pure Music mode, USB DAC mode, Bluetooth receiver mode, AirPlay mode, Roon Ready mode, Coaxial/optical input modes, HDMI input mode, and HDMI ARC mode.
Multiple Output Modes
The R9 can connect to both headphones and speakers simultaneously, allowing seamless switching between them with a twist of a knob. Output modes include:
- PO+PRE OUT (default setting): Front headphone output + rear line-out output (volume adjustable)
- PO: Front headphone output only
- PRE OUT: Rear line-out output only (volume adjustable)
- LO: Rear line-out output only (fixed level output)
